Using the app

TalkingTiles is provided free of charge by Wable LLC. You may use it for personal, family, educational, clinical or commercial purposes. There is no account, no licence key and no usage limit.

It is not a medical device

TalkingTiles is a communication aid. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

It is not a substitute for assessment by a qualified speech and language therapist. Decisions about a person’s communication system — which vocabulary, which layout, which access method — should be made with a professional who knows them. Do not rely on this app in an emergency or where a communication failure could cause harm.

The symbols

The 240 symbols in the app are our own work, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. You may share and adapt them, including commercially, provided you credit them as “Symbols by TalkingTiles (CC BY 4.0)”.

The app’s source code is available under the MIT licence.

What we do not promise

The app is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that a particular voice will be available on your device, or that a translation is right for your dialect or region.

Voices, speech quality and language availability come from your device’s operating system and vary between devices and versions. That part is not under our control.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Governing law

Wable LLC is a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

This does not take away any consumer protection right you have under the law of the country you live in. Where those rights conflict with anything above, they win.
